Shortly after a deranged stranger attacks city slicker Maya with a machete on the open road and oddly mentions her home village, she decides to go there with her best friend. Pretending to be students on a research trip, the young women venture into Maya’s mysterious past. But the more layers of her family history they peel away, the uglier and spookier their trip gets. Indonesian grandmaster of horror Joko Anwar once again pulls no punches with this sweaty, lush jungle shocker. A visually stunning, brutal folk horror thriller—not for the faint of heart!
