JÖRG BUTTGEREIT: THE GIANT OF UNDERGROUND HORROR
A chance to see a selection of early shorts by THE GIANT OF UNDERGROUND HORROR the Berlin-based trash poet, punk surrealist, and underground icon Jörg Buttgereit comes along once in a blue moon. SLASH presents the cinéma veritéstyled parody My Father (1981–1985), the cheeky and gory Bloody Excess in the Leader’s Bunker (1982), J.B.’s Horror Heaven (1984), his personal variation on EC Comics’ Tales from the Crypt, and Hot Love (1985). To Michael Brynntrup’s Jesus – The Film (1986) Buttgereit contributes the Crucifixion (and staking) of vampire-Jesus. For good measure, we also present Robert Morgan’s authorized animated sequel to Buttgereit’s Schramm (1993), Tomorrow I Will Be Dirt (2019). For the grand finale, Buttgereit’s newest short, Piglets (2020), documents a decomposition study conducted by Dr. Mark Benecke, forensic biologist extraordinaire.
Unfortunately Jörg Buttgereit and Dr. Mark Benecke can’t attend the screening due to current events and travel restrictions for Vienna. The Q&A will be conducted via video after the screening
