2020 is a sad year in film history. In addition to the breakdown of a whole industry, key artists of international (and fantastic) cinema have passed away. Among them Stuart Gordon, who instantly put himself into the Mount Olympus of dirty little horror movies with his feature debut Re-Animator. His second flick From Beyond is also a H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, with Jeffrey Combs in the leading role, and is in no way inferior to the previous offering. B-movie romance meets slimy body horror, which has aged excellently due to the great make-up. Disgusting, black-humored, and simply good!

Stuart Gordon
(*1947, USA; †2020) was a filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, theater director, and dramatist. After shocking audiences with his provocative, experimental theater, he devoted himself to horror films. He made 13 feature films, wrote screenplays for other directors (like Abel Ferrara), and acted as a producer. Stuart Gordon died on March 24 this year.
