Some people you just have to plop into a chair and let talk. The Canadian Alexandre O. Philippe, who became known for his formally eccentric documentaries about the cult movies Psycho and Alien, chooses exactly this approach of utmost reduction in his take on William Friedkin. A titan of New Hollywood cinema and still sharp, strong-willed, and provocative in his mid-eighties, talks for just under two hours about the production of what may be his most famous film, The Exorcist. The monolog is peppered with unforgettable (and pretty wild) anecdotes and saturated with this exceptional artist’s charisma and gravitas. Film history, as good as it gets!
