Single mother Marlene is plagued by nightmares in which she roams around an unfamiliar place. One day she recognizes the village from her dreams in a travel magazine. She drives there but collapses upon arrival, falling into a catatonic state. Her teenage daughter Mona subsequently tries to lift the hamlet’s secret. Michael Venus’s feature debut is a somnambulant horror thriller with an urgent sociopolitical spin about repressed memories that seep into the present as nightmares. Sleep is a godsend for the German horror genre.
Guests: August Schmölzer (18.09)
